Are Ronde de Bordeaux and Rouge de Bordeaux one and the same?  If not, are they similar?  I noticed UCD has Rouge de Bordeaux but not Ronde.  I was wondering if they are synonymous.

No. Not the same. Rouge de Bordeaux is synonymous with Pastilliere, however. 

There are a few dark french figs that get discussed quite a bit here:

• Pastiliere aka Rouge de Bordeaux
• Ronde de Bordeaux 
• Negronne aka Violette de Bordeaux (and a smaller but very productive version, Petite Negri)
• Violette de Solliès aka Bourjassotte Noire

Hi Paul, here are a couple of pics of my Rouge de Bordeaux (Pastiliere) from last season. First fig from a young plant, but excellent, as is Ronde de Bordeaux.    

Does pastiliere need the,wasp. I have itbut qas told it needs the wasp

No Richie, it doesn't need the wasp.

I believe it has very low fig retention rates without the wasp.
