Rookie Question Bag Method

Received some cuttings from mgginva  (Thanks Michael !) and have been reading about the bag method on the forum pages.  Saw a youtube on the bag method that said to open the bag each day to exchange air.  Doesn’t look like that is the case with what I am seeing here.  Excited and want to get some practice in before the cutting season arrives in February.

Thanks in advance for the patience ofthe experience members.

Have fun practicing!  Not sure which (there are many) bag method you are using.  I've had em mold and rot with just damp paper towels in the baggie, but no mold or rot ever when I use damp sphangum moss in the baggie.  I open every 3 days or so.  I'm sure you'll get more opinions than you want on this topic!

There are also a bunch of individual threads around here, but they're not as well laid out as the above.

Just don't overwater your material.  That's a huge fail point.  Pre-moisten mix where possible.

Good luck with whatever method you choose to use as there are several. The main thing is patience. Not all cuttings will root quickly and some can take a very long time. Suzi is correct, if you're using a bag method, use sphagnum, not paper towels.

One more method
Put 1 inch of DAMP Spag moss in a plastic shoebox.
Lay cuttings on moss
Lightly cover cuttings with DAMP Spag moss
Place lid on shoebox
Place shoebox in warm semi dark place
LEAVE IT ALONE! LEAVE IT ALONE! FOR 12-14 DAYS
Open lid, DO NOT DISTURB CUTTINGS, check for moisture of moss
Spray with squirt bottle if needed
Close lid return to original place
When you see roots, LEAVE THEM ALONE!
When you can't stand it any longer, take two shots of scotch, call a friend, and,
WAIT 7 MORE DAYS TO MESS WITH THE ROOTED CUTTINGS!!!

IT MAY TAKE MORE THAN TWO SHOTS OF SCOTCH AND 7 DAYS, LOL
YOU WILL SEE THE ROOTS DEVELOPING

OMG Danny!  That was good!!

That was good! Funny but the secret really is... to leave them alone.

What he said ^^^

"Care to death" is a reality when rooting from scion.  It is way too easy to overdo/overthink/overfeel it.

I tried with paper towel and they rotted. I am trying sphagnum moss.
