Rookie Rooting Report

Well, at least this is the half-time report, I still have a bunch rooting.  But here are the first ones I had success with.

First pic is of the two I have potted up to #1 size pots, Lattarula and Unknown Abington.

Second is 2 Salce figs and a San Pietro(JM)

Third is Dominick's fig, Grasa's Purple Seattle, and Lattarula.

These above 9 are the survivors of my first attempt at rooting 25 cuttings using Root Riot cubes and Clonex gel, starting early January.  The last 7 will be potted up this weekend.

The last pic is of four that leafed out in the last 2 weeks, 2 started in perlite & transferred to cup, 2 started in cup using Dip n Grow:  Black Jack, Black Triana, O'Rourke and Nero.  There are quite a few more showing roots and/or early buds or leaves.

Thanks to all of you who helped with your advice here on the forum and especially to those who generously shared cuttings with me!

Nice job! I hope I can do as well. But I'm a month or two behind you.

Great work!  Joe, in Georgia

I am so jealous...LOL   Lost so many fig babies to those Gnats. Well my next batch is better protected, Microwaving the potting mix before using...LOL     Thanks for Posting, keep us updated.

Ed, those look really good. Continued success!

Very nice! As a newbie I hope to have success as you have shown :)

Nice job !
I had almost the same problem as Armando. I was using MG potting soil and was inundated with gnats last year! I changed to Fox Farms and no gnats - anywhere!!

I use MG as well but no gnats. The plants are in a sunny window and I limit watering as much as possible. So far so good.

Way to go! Hope they prosper for  you.

Aloha, Ed.  That's some commendable work!  I hope someday to post some worthy growers, too.

Nate
