Root bound Barnissotte

This root bound Barnissotte is what happens when you leave a fig tree in a small pot and don't root prune.

nah.. that's not too bad. i took my cuttings out of 1 gal after a yr. then i hosed it off with water and repot into 3 gal pot. they are doing rather well. now, my 10 gal plants which has been in there for 1.5 yrs, they are nasty. i cut them off and did root prune.. they are also doing well. but i should really do some air layers to make sure i don't lose them.

my 4 gal plants, i didn't bother doing any major root pruning when doing up pot. i just ran knife through about 6-8 place, some almost to the trunk and just stuck them in to 10 gal. also doing rather well.

will be doing same in about 3 yrs.

Holy crap!! That thing is tall. I want one now. Must be the greenhouse giving the super powers to grow like that.

Tom, I ran into the same situation. The only thing I would have done differently is, I would have soaked the entire root ball in some fertilome rooting hormone for one hour. It would keep the tree from transplant shock. Good job! nice video!

How do you like the figs from it?

Here is a video I did on the fig last year.

When I'm out of town and roaming I don't have the bandwidth for videos  :)  I'll see it eventually.

I remember the skin had its own sweetness and I liked the fig.  In the video I said it reminded me of a hardy Chicago for some reason.  It has its own unique flavor and it's hard to describe when you don't have others side by side at the same time.

Hi Tom
your plant looks nice and should have a bumper crop this season going into fall .

Similar here with fig trees in final season before root pruning a bumper crop then winter root pruning along with limb and canopy pruning then some less figs following season then fig production increases each season and same process repeats itself with that cycle.
