I got some cutting for "exotic fig from North China" off Ebay. One put roots on top, bottom, and all the nodes. I broke the roots off the top and moved it up to a cup in the humidity chamber, now its starting to show what I think are figs at two nodes. All of them put on the round figs, bigger and before, the pointed leaf bud. I don't know about exotic, but different? yes, I'll give them different. I break the figs off when they put on the leaf bud and I'm sure I can tell the difference.
I just moved a Marseilles black up out of the humidity chamber, not as far along as I'd like, but showing something fuzzy I'm afraid is mold. It does have some roots and a green bud on a branch but the main stem isn't showing me anything, except maybe rot. I'll give it a couple of days in a dryer location and see if surgery seems necessary.
A HC I started in a cup of water on the window sill, as an experiment, put on leaves but no roots. It had white bumps around the waterline but nothing on the bottom. I moved it into a cup of 50/50 perlite/vermiculite in the humidity chamber and the leaves promptly wilted. I thought I had lost it but some of the smaller leaves have perked back up.
