Im rooting cuttings using a bag over the pot to create a "greenhouse"

Stupid question....When do you remove the bag and let them grow in open air?

There's a difference in what type of cuttings your using. If cutting are from dormant cuttings, go to Jon's site to see baggy. If from green cuttings, can't remember if Jon's site has that. If not for green cuttings look at Trees of Joy site, Bass shows what to do. Wish I knew how to put the links to direct you, but don't know how.

No Tim, the bag method is about dormant cuttings in a bag with shpagnum until roots appear. What you are doing is tenting or making a mini greenhouse with a bag over a cutting in a pot. I'm guessing you are using a green cutting too. It should work for you. There is no set rule about how long to keep the tent, but when I notice growth of roots I then begin opening the bag or cutting the corners with scissors into ever increasing in size holes until the bag is pretty much gone. Some people wait to see new leaves growing, that is fine too. With the heat we are having lately I would geuss 3 weeks or so but of course it also depends on the variety.   

Thanks Barry. I planted them in a group in a 1 gallon pot with 80% cedar mulch and 20% MG Soil.  I can't see the roots so I guess i'll be going for  leaf development.  Wait a month after that then separate and transplant

Cedar? do you mean pine bark or cypress? Good luck!!!
