rooting cuttings

When you root in moss at what point do you pot the cutting, I have roots 1/2 inch long?Rex.

I usually like to wait till they are an inch or two long or longer and in multipals.
Meaning they would have to be at least three or four  or more roots.

Use your judgement.
Ask yourself would these roots be able to feed the size of the cuttings in question?

Beware!
The young roots are tender so use extreme caution when removing from the bag and potting into the soil.
They can break off very easy.

I would fill some mix intot he container and water down. Let the soil settle and then place the rooted cutting into the container gently. While holding the rooting cutting with one hand you gently fill with soil on top of the roots and around. Tap the side of the container with a hard object to settle the soil and water.

Hope this helps,

Good luck

I second what Rafed said, but I usually go directly to a clear cup with a perlite/soil mixture.
I then put the cup into a clear bin and wait for the roots to fill the cup.

Good luck,

I root right in the pot it will be in until sold of planted

I have always rooted the cutting right in the pot, this is the first time I have used moss. When the cuttings show roots I have been grafting onto them, Rex

iI go to 1 gal pots as soon as I see any roots. the longer they are the more likely they are to break. Think back to levers. I would wait a while to graft on to them until the roots have a chance to develop enough to support what you'll be grafting on.
