Rooting Fig Problem?

About 10 days ago I received my Fig Cuttings in the mail. I bought them off eBay from a Gentleman in Mandeira. They were in the Mail for about 12 days. Well, I wrapped them up good,in moist paper towel and put them on top of my Refrigerator. I checked on them today and seen some white spots on some of them (which I suppose is going to be roots) but the buds are turning dark, where as they were almost green (The buds are what's worrying me the ends are getting brown on some of them) Do y'all think they will be okay? Any help will be greatly appreciated, I am new at this. : )

Thanks,

Frank

after you wrap them in moist, not wet, paper towel, did you put them in ziplock bag? otherwise, the tip will dry out. the white spots you are are usually where the roots might come out. you want the whole cuttings to get constant humidity, but not wet condition. meaning, put them in ziplock back wrapped with moist paper towel and air it out once a day or so. if you don't air them out, they will mold.

Yes, I did put them in a Ziploc Bag but I didn't air them out. : (

Thanks

not airing out isn't all that a problem. if there is mold, and if you do not have roots yet, you can still wash it and put it back in to new clean ziplock and clean paper towel. also, if the tip is dried out, but if the cutting itself is not, you still have chance of getting new bud popping out on node below.
