rooting problem

When rooting a cutting in a plastic box with green moss or long sphagnum moss. If the bud breaks and rots should you just ignore it or pinch it off.  I have never heard what to do if this happens, what should I do?

Hi There,

I think what you have is ideal so far. At this particular stage I would leave the plant alone, as you want to see growth from both top and bottom. You want root growth, and of course you want you plant to break buds.  However, What I recommend (since this is what I do) is that I only allow a max of 2 buds to grow on top. Some people may disagree and only allow one. The reason for this is that you do not want the plant to focus so much energy on top growth instead of root growth.

Best of luck!

PS: at this phase you must really be watching out for humidity in your rooting terrarium/space. Too much humidity will easily kill that top growth.

Roots are more important than vegetative growth at this phase. However, if there are no viable buds, then there will be no vegetative growth, when it is time.
