Rooting setup: FRESH moss

In the past years I have tried several rooting schemes for fig cuttings. I started off with the moist paper towel method, I tried Perlite and Vermiculite and wetted dried peat moss from the garden center. All with variable results. Since last year I use FRESHLY harvested moss from a somewhat shady and wet part of my garden (see picture). The fresh moss stays fresh for weeks in a closed Zipper bag together with the fig cuttings. The big plus here is that the moist moss stays crisp and very well aerated, which is perfect for root development.
I found that rooting works best when the cutting are lying ON TOP of the moss. It works better than when they are buried IN the moss.

Very nice technique.
Thank you for sharing Vijgenboom.

Nice to have that growing in your backyard.  Where do you live?

I live in Holland, near the city of Amsterdam. Our climate is more suitable for growing moss than growing figs....
