Roots for Leon

Hey, Leon,

How about dem roots? This was a semi-green cutting taken 9/4 and rooted in a bag, and moved to a cup 10/5, and as you see it 10/26. It also has roots in the soil mix. "Fig Heaven" taught me that the green cuttings were much more susceptible to drying out, hence the water bottle for an impromptu greenhouse, sitting on my desk, where is was rooted in the bag. Since putting in in the "greenhouse" is has increased its roots in the soil mix, but has also decided to grow roots in the humid air as well. Go figure.

Hi Jon
Could one have got three plants from the cutting that rooted in three places shown in your picture if planted horizontally (and cut into three plants after good roots development). Also, will removing the roots in the air help the shoot deveopment?
BTW, I have never rooted any fruit tree this way yet so can't speak from experience.

Ciao Jon,  My fig cuttings also have roots going along the length of the  branch,  I was wondering when finally planting it Vertically, can you remove the roots sticking above the soil line as long as there are sufficient roots below?   Make it look nicer anyhow.   Ciao, Maggie

An amazing good  rooter fig twig. No sign of any killer mold too!

Jon:
Was the bottle somehow vented?  I see no killer mold. If no, what's  the secret?
Also what is the fig cultivar...
Is it Aldo? which previously has already been noted as a very good rooter?

Good point! Yes, if this was one of my rare figs, I would cut the rooted tip and
the next rooted node and re-pot them.  That would leave one node, hopefully
with roots in the soil (cup) .

If you wanted just the one plant, the (air) roots will soon dry and die off ;
when/if the 'GH/dome' bottle is removed.

Ciao Gorgi,  Thanks for the info.  Also these are rare cuttings so I will probably do what you said for Ottawan!!!  Good point appreciate it. Ciao, Maggie
