Roots on both ends!!

I put two cuttings of my Brown turkey fig in some soil and vermiculite and left them on the water heater in the furnace room.
A week later there was roots on top.
I thought maybe I planted them upside down by mistake.
So I pulled them out of the mix and saw roots on the bottom also.
I then got a bigger container planted them laying down.
I thought let the roots grow as they please.
Eventually they should send out shoots?
Anybody else have this happen?

Jerry

With the right heat and humidity, they will grow root anywhere. I have had them in a perlite-vermiculite mix, in a cup, and nice humidity, and the roots grew from the portion above the "soil" line, as well as elsewhere. Roots is roots.

Thank you!!

I planted them laying down and some
roots are pushing throught the soil.
Also this morning I noticed two leaves
above the soil..
So all is well!!
