A second year tree planted in ground this spring. A very prolific grower. A small fig but very good berry flavor and not overly sweet. The peel is thin and tender with no seed crunch. About an 8.
8 is good. I would take an 8. Few seeds is a bonus, if seeds get caught in dental appliances.
eight is great! It will only get better, nice for a 2 year old.
It has been about a month since I posted on this one. I thought I would update this. It is still a nice, not to sweet berry flavor with just the slightest figgy taste and a little crunch.I do think it has more potential as it matures. It is the fastest growing bush form I have. Still about an 8.
Mike, looks good.Do you think this is another Mt Etna type fig?
Another nice looking fig.
Seems to resemble MBVS
Rosemary had no idea the variety. She told me her dad planted it “about” 50 years ago. I think the figs will get a little bigger. I don’t have ripe pics off my tree only ones from Rosemary’s tree, which was covered with birds and not quite ripe. I have no idea if its a Mt Etna variety.
Whatever it is, it's a nice looking tree and fruit
Its been four week since I tasted the first fig from this tree. There have been many others but I thought I would update this thread. Todays figs had a moredistinct berry flavor and was somewhat sweet (the way I like it) and it had the slightest seed crunch. I had given it an 8 but I'll up it after the additional fruit to an 8.5 I think it is a definite keeper and it is in ground here. It must have been quiet cold hardy to survive the NY weather without protection.
