Rust or something else?

Hello!

My husband and I are noobs to growing figs; we have a calliope red Greek in a 50 gallon bucket that we got last year and is healthy. My husband bought a new fig tree ( 'Greek' something- he doesn't remember) a few weeks ago that he planted in the ground. Some leaves have started to turn brown, and if you look closely at the attached pics, they also appear to have white specks. We live in lower Westchester, NY, and there has been more rain the last couple of weeks than sun. Some guidance/confirmation of what is going on would be much appreciated!

Looks like it might have dried out and wilted badly not long ago. Seems to be recovering with healthy new leaves now. Look at where the damaged leaves are... They were the new/soft leaves a couple weeks ago, those are the ones that get damaged first when a plant wilts. It takes some time for the brown spots to show up and the smallest leaves to dry like that. The leaves above them are doing good though so just keep an eye on them and don't worry about the old damage too much.

Welcome and good luck!

Looks like rust to me. Copper will help.
