Is the fungal issue know as Rust that infects figs the same pathogen that causes some states to ban the import of gooseberries and currants? Or are there different types of Rust?

fig rust is Cerotelium fici, rose rust is caused by nine species of the fungus genus Phragmidium.  The pine killing fungus that is associated with currants and gooseberry is Cronartium ribicola

Each species listed above stays on one host.  There are fungi that attach multiple host species, like Armillaria mellea.
