Rust Spots on Fig Leaves

I am new to fig culture, just started this year, and currently have eight figs in pots, started from small plants purchased from mail-order nurseries. The plants are about 18-20" tall.  A few of my figs are beginning to show brown rust colored spots on their lower leaves.  I was wondering if this is some kind of serious fungus disease and needs to be treated.  Also, what is the best treatment to get rid of this problem. Thanks for any help and insights on this.

I see you're also from NJ. My fig trees are going through something similar. I think it was the unexpected heat wave this past week

Yes, I am in NJ, and got interested in growing figs more or less by accident.  NJ sure has had some unusually hot weather these past few weeks.  Do you think this hot weather is the cause for this problem?  Are your figs more mature than mine?  and are you doing something about this problem?   A few of the lower leafs of my affected plants fell off;  I am just hoping this does not affect the whole plant resulting in total leaf loss.   Is there some remedy for this fungus disease?   Where in NJ are you located; being a novice at this I am sure I can learn something from your experience.  Thanks.

I'm also a bit of a novice. I think the heat really shocked some of my trees or at least the sharp increase in heat after some cooler weeks. I moved my trees into at least half shade. I don't think the damage is too severe but i can't be certain just yet
