Sad Day

Even though he was not a forum member I sent him many pics which I'm sure he enjoyed. I credit him for getting me back into growing figs as he gave me my Blk Unknown

Greco, Salvatore ,77, of Hawthorne died on  March 2, 2010.  He was born on December 25, 1932 (registered on January 1, 1933) to Salvatore and Grace (nee Crupi) Greco in Piedimonte Eteneo, Sicily, Italy. He married Maria Cardillo on September 7, 1957. He was a devoted husband until her death in 2008. He was a tailor and worked for Ralph Lauren Womenswear until his retirement. He is survived by his loving daughter and devoted son-in-law, Grace and Jay Singer and two cherished grandchildren, David and Emily Singer.  Survived by two brothers, Ignazio and Antonino and their families.  He was devoted to his family. He helped raise his two grandchildren. He taught them how to garden, sew, and how to fix almost anything. He relished celebrating his two birthdays, enjoyed his times in Cape Cod and the monthly pancake breakfast after Sunday Mass. We will miss him.

This is how I remember him in 2008 watering my U/K

Sal I'm sorry to hear about your friend, he and his family will be in my prayers. Another good man has gone to his reward. Just be sure you tag your black unknown with his name in his honor.
"gene"

Sal i remember that picture from last season.
Take good care of that tree Sal i know you will as im sure it will always have a special meaning to you each time to see it and remember him.

Sorry to hear of your friends loss.

Sal Im sorry to hear about Mr. Salvatore My condolences to you and the family on your loss.

Sorry to hear about the bad news.
Though not a FF member, Salvatore (Sal),
was definitely a fig-lover too, as the pic shows.
May God bless his soul.

Sal,  you have my condolences, I am so sorry. He has a huge fig orchard in heaven I am sure.  God Bless to you and your family.  Cherish that tree now even more as it is something from him you can always have.  Ciao Ciao Maggie.

Sorry to hear of the death of your friend. His name Salvatore is the Italian variant of my father in law's name Salvador, who also loves growing things. Rest in peace Salvatore.

Sal, my condolences to you and your uncles family. God bless all of you.

I'm sure he's tending the gardens of the Lord as you read this.  I can't wait for the day I am there myself, though I am in no rush to go as I have responsibilities here with family and such.  I can only imagine how wonderful it would be, though.

From what I remember, the trees there each bear 12 kinds of fruit, and fruit monthly.  I have no doubt that figs are one of those kinds.  (Question is what kind of figs??)  :-)

Sal,
Sorry about your friend. We are all here for a brief moment. Then we meet our Almighty Father.

One day I will meet with my baby girl Mariah in the arms of my beloved sister.
FYI, Having trouble holding back my tears.

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. I'm sure he is in a better garden and will no longer fret about having to protect his trees. To the few members I was able to share these cuttings with please pass them around. I did plant one in ground hoping for good growth so I can share many more cuttings in the future.

Sal
