Sad event

My still BABY innocent teenage daughter, being brave went
there south to Argentina.  Just arrived at the destination
~ 1-2 hours ago. We just received a phone call that she has
just been conned/robbed-off the most essential stuff.

Please, pray with me so that she does come back home to us in one good solid piece...

Sorry to hear the sad news, George.
May the Almighty protect her and bring her back home with safety.

Gorgi,

Sorry about the bad news. Material things can and will be replaced.
We pray she gets home into your loving arms safely and soon.
Was she hurt at all?

Please keep us informed, We will be with you every step of the way.

George, Sorry to hear the shocking news of your Daughter. I'm praying for her safe return and you and your family during this stressful time. God Bless you all.

Peg

I'm sending prayers for your daughter and you. May God's  peace be with you until her safe return.

Blessing, "gene"

Physically she is OK; thank You God!
She is travelling with another college friend.
They should be able to share some stuff,
till we figure out how to send some money.
Gnown up KIDS ... Arrrr!
What can one do?
Hoping that a big lesson was learned by her.

I feel your pain. Three daughters here, 19, 16 and 16months the oldest is due to deliver my first grandchild in less then 60 days.
We kill ourselves trying to shield them from reality but sometimes they learn life's lessons the hard way.
Remember this, "That that doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

Gorgi,

Thank God she o.k..

Western Union works world wide and you don't even have to leave the house to send her money.
She can have money in a matter of minutes.

Like I said, material things can be replaced. Main thing she's o.k..

;-((((((((((((((((

This is terrible news George. Our prayers are with you & family for your daughter's safety and journey home. May you & family have the Lord's blessings in these trying times.

Paully

Oh George thats sad news , the good part is she is not hurt.
Our most treasured thing in life is FAMILY.
Thank God she is unharmed , you well know material things eventually can be replaced im glad for you she is ok .
May good things be with you and your Family.

That sucks. I am not looking forward to the day when my son is a teenager. Do you mind saying how she was conned?

While waiting for the bus at a bus-stop, somehow, they
got some stinky stuff on their clothes. Not sure where
the stuff came from, possibly they were sprayed with
something. A couple came and offered help in cleaning.
While being distracted, my daughters backpack (which
I thing was on the ground) got stolen. By time she noticed,
it was too late, she saw that couple getting into a
car/taxi and take off (with the backpack)...

She is shaken, but otherwise OK.
We think that we now have things under control.
Tomorrow, we will deposit some cash in her friend's
account. We had to block her account because of the
stolen cards. Luckily, the passport was not lost.

This is the organization she is with:

She will be in a hostel in Buenos Aires till Wednesday and then
goes on to a farm in a small town near Mendoza (wine country).

Thanks all for your concern and help.

George, I'm sure everything will be fine. I hope she speaks the language, otherwise that will make things more difficult.
This an excellent organization, One day she will have her own fig farm...

I'm sorry to hear about this George. I'm sure she is thankful she has you to depend on.

A  (much older and wiser) friend had a similar experience in south america--sprayed with mustard 'accidentally' at a restaurant and the people aiding in the clean up attempting to rob him.

How sad for her and scary for you.  Having 3 daughters of my own, I can imagine how your heart fell when you received that phone call.  Thank God she is ok.  I hope the remainder of her trip makes up for the terrible start.

George, so sorry about this, I didn't see this post until now as I have been away. I would want to strangle this person for doing this. Thank god your little girl is doing better. It is very terrifying traveling to some countries of our Planet earth.  I am glad and we must all watch out for these con tricks people play.  What gives these people the right to do this.  I would be shaken too George as you daughter is/was.  My best wishes for you and your family.

Ciao

Sorry to hear that but it unfortunately sounds like deja vue. I was in similar situations but I was luckily able to escape. Some people I know even got rubbed at gun point, were drugged and in one case got beaten.

I personally always have ''secret'' pockets sowed inside my jeans with extra credit cards... Also, I always keep my stuff in 3 different spots under my cloths in the eventuality I am forced to hand in my belongings...

I would recommend a read of this article from Wikitravel.

I hope all is now well for your daughter.

George; thank goodness it was only the pack.  This is not an isolated incident.
The experience will be good for her---She will be a much more alert and careful traveler now.
