sad news

I am pretty sure that I lost my vdb and albique patete do to winter. They were potted and in my unheated green house. But I guess it still got to cold. The roots look like they may still have life.time will tell.

Hi Garden_whisperer,
Until August you cant' be 100% sure . Be patient ... and then you'll know.

Good advice. I too thought my Chicago Hardy had bit the dust one year and much later it started out with new shoots. Don't give up yet.

Garden  - it was a nasty Illinois winter it would not surprise me if they have damage or are dead but like others have said just wait
i've seen some come back as late as August just that there set back in seasons at that point.

Illinois can have some tuff winters as we has 25 + days of below zero temps this season.

New growth may still pop up from underneath the soil. I had a "dead one" that suddenly got new life in July last year. Crossing my fingers for you.
