Saint Rita

The rats have finally allowed me to enjoy some late fall figs. I have been waiting on this Saint Rita fig with my fingers crossed for as long as I can. Here are a few pictures. This fig was soft, sweet and mild. I expected it to have a stronger fig flavor but I enjoyed it just the same.

I like saint Rita!

Almost from the beginning, just from its description and photos, St. Rita is a fig I really have wanted. I salivate whenever I see photos of it. Fortunately I now have it rooting. :)

SAINT RITA
 DESCRIPTION
[A] small to medium dark purple fig with outstanding berry flavor. It comes from a town in Italy called Cascia and was named after a saint from that village. This fig bears for me around August 15th here in Michigan and thru September. (RD)

Nice photos James!  Glad you got to enjoy those before the rats got to them.  Shudder.  Not sure where you live James, but I wonder if Gina's figs will have stronger flavor in Southern California.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

oh yes.. st. rita. heard about it.. dreamed about it. hope i'll taste it soon.

The Beatles thought highly of a Rita too - don't know if she was a saint however:

Lovely Rita meter maid

Lovely Rita meter maid
Lovely Rita meter maid
Nothing can come between us
When it gets dark
I tow your heart away

Lovely Rita meter maid
May I inquire discreetly
When are you free
to take some tea with me?
(Rita)

it's been awhile since i actually saw a lovely meter maids :) they all seem very stressed.

We got meter men here.  Same thing.  Stressed!

A generous forum friend sent me some cuttings last year.  I started them and boom they rooted!  Looking forward to seeing a few figs next year!  Thanks for the beautiful photos.  It is  a sight for sore eyes!

Not a meter maid, but would not mind having a Saint Rita fig also.

Here is my Rita with her sibblings acting like my front porch is their queendom.
