Sal C Pics!!! Update Sal LIkes It HOT?

speaking of florida bugs, have you ever had a yellow deerfly attack?  last week i was out at the farm, and the darndest thing happened.  i got bit by a deerfly.  when this happens, it's just one, you try to smack her (i assume it's a female) or she gets enough blood and leaves you alone.  anyway, i get bit again, and again.  soon i am smacking deerflies and i bet i probably killed 20... but i never came close to running them off.  i ended up getting bit so many times that i was the one who ran away.  they were constantly bumping into me in so many numbers i couldn't keep track of them.  i have seen plenty of mosquitos down here, and even bad swarms of them.  but a deerfly swarm?  i would have thought this impossible until last week.  bit up and wisened today :).

yes, and those bites hurt like hell!

Little by little im taking in things about Florida, deer flies i have heard of but thats about it. Knats they usually are in swarms here like when i walk the dog they nay be in an area pesky little things.
Thats a nice enclosure Sal no wasps , birds etc to mess with your plants in there.

I was just up in Daytona Beach FL for my niece golf tournament and I don't know if they were deer fly or horse fly but I lost a pint of blood it seems.

OK I can't resist My Niece's team won the NJCAA National Championship.

congrats Sal, I'm sure she's better than Tiger Woods.

Hi Sal, the figs look great. That SC is really growing. Congratulations to your niece also.

I see you're getting ripe tomatoes-I expect that in Florida. but to my surprise, I'm picked about 10 ttis week(just starting, of course). We seem to be a couple weeks ahead of schedule. I've got lots of pictures to share and as soon as I get some time, I promise I'll post them. Several of the Black unk. you shared are going gangbusters. I even think the Sweet yellows are finally going to go(time will tell). Take care. Tim

Thanks Bass in my mind she is the best of course. She has been playing golf since she was about 6-7yrs. 90% of golf is between the ears and she is finally getting it. The women have so much better swing than men Must be that Rib Thing. lol

Tim great to hear from you and am happy those yellow might do something for you. Bass said his took so we will see. I'm glad that blk u/k is going well, I'm sure you will enjoy those.
Martin when the time comes feel free to ask any and all questions I will do my best to help you.

HI Sal!
Your [very young] Sal(C) fig is doing very veeery greeeaaat!
Let us know how it ripens in FL.

my sal's c is also making figs.  i'll try to post next week or so and we can compare pics.  i have to say that sals c is a very agressive grower.

i've noticed that my figs with stella type leaves just don't like the hot sun here in florida.  i am thinking when it gets a little less intense in september and october i'll get better growth.   it's not that they aren't growing, it's just that the other type of leaves (like sal's c) are better growing.  not sure what to make of this observation.

Good job Sal. Thats a very healthy SC.

Its nice to see pictures of beautiful plants and now some ripe figs in Florida and  Louisiana from members ( thanks for the tease !) Keep em coming please.
Than later in season its my turn shoot i can wait though because then cold will be right around corner.

George must have some special juice (ROIDS) because I did not do any thing special other than a taped version of Martin singing That's Amore. ;)
Sal

Sal,

Will you please send me a bootlegged version of Martins That's Amore on a C.D.?
I will place the radio in my backyard for all my figs to enjoy.

Thank you in advance. LOL

Sal,

Here are some pics of my S/C.
Hope you don't mind me posting here.

Rafed I can't seem to break his code (write protected Martin's Property lol ;) When and not IF I do break it it will get passed to all fig nuts as his voice is a growing phenomenon for figs

And of course I don't mind, I love to look at pictures of others. Seems like yours like mine has some considerable space between leaves or nodes. Not sure if it's just a characteristic or over fertilization or a combination of both.
Very nice looking tree by the way ;)
Have a great 4th of July to all
