Sal Corleone 1st Ripe pic

Here is my first ripe Sal C got this in April. All I can say is WOW to the way it grew and put on fruit I just counted 32 figs and it is putting on more. I pinched and cut at top and it just grows the nodes are getting shorter from pinching I find The tree is now over 4ft from top of pot. I was expecting a more red pulp but with my heat I think they are cooking on outside and inside is staying rare lol I will leave next one on longer and see

Forgot to get better picture of eye. Taste was good for such a young tree I expect it to improve when and if cooler weather comes maybe Sept-Oct if it is still putting on fruit. Very nice looking fig blemish free on this one I have a few more turning

If I was you I would remove all young fruits and leave less than 2 dozen, for this year.
1. quality of fruit will improve
2.Your tree will not be dead next Spring, from overwork, and if alive will be ill and no fruits next year.
yet I want to congratulate you for the care you give to your tree.

There is a reason, behind the success, and has to do with you.

Hi Herman

You wrote!

I was wondering if you would elaborate on the comment you made about removing all of the young fruit and leaves less than 2 dozen
I have started to remove any figlet that show up that I don't think Will ripen this year
How much of the leaves do you remove?
Do you have an example that you can show us?

Thank you

how was the taste of it?

i'm having the same results from my sals.   the best producer of figs in numbers, though they are still a ways off from ripening.  i've got several planted and they have all grown and are fruiting like yours.

it's hard to believe that it won't fruit next year, since my clone mother came up from the roots after freezing  to the ground.  it's loaded with fruit now.  it's going to freeze to the ground this winter, and why wouldn't it fruit again next year?

That is an incredible fig tree you have there. Good work! I'll have to keep my eyes open for a Sals.

Sal--where did you get your Sal's?

Here is second fig, I let it stay longer you can see the honey drip from eye, again more amber than red pulp as pictured by others, I can only assume my hot weather is playing into how figs are ripening so far. This was a moist, sweet fig with really nothing I can compare to. I can only hope that some trees will still be producing at end of Sept and Oct so I can compare the difference with the weather and ripening.
Weight = 57 grams  23 grams difference from first fig at 34 grams. Any Input?

Sal, that fig sure looks tasty. Lovely pics by the way
