Sal Corleone & other fig Pictures

I had a few Sal Corleone Ripen and since not many Pics are posted of this fig I thought I would share. High temps, high humidity and rain as of late. The fig was a little watery but the flavor and sweetness were very good for a young 1st season fig. As you can see it has a large open eye with a bit of honey drip, but I don't think it eliminates all water from getting in

If any one else has pictures  please post to compare. Thanks

Yummy Sal !!, I love the color of these figs while ripening.  Ciao

Hi Sal,
Minga do your plant a favor (sals c) cause your cooking it in your Florida hot sun, its getting ripe before figs get to full maturity similar to your Violet de Bordeaux.
Just ship to my house and my climate will make nice figs then i ship back just in time for winter and dont forget to give me your fed x account number !  : )

Martin,,,, MINGA!!!  boy this is a ronchy forum today. Ciao :))
tickled me

Lol  Martin, Minga is very bad word, which Italian Americans really abuse and that includes myself ;)

Martin you are right, second fig on plate with others was a little more ripe with more flavor, you can see the difference in the rind which is more  developed if that is the correct terminology
Here are a few songs I play for the figs, they seem to like ballads. Martin I know you are also a tenor, don't be shy as we all know you can hold a note just as good as Jerry. My dad had him topped in his day though He sang Innamorata at my wedding and at 74yrs of age he could still hold and hit the notes. Dad and Jerry grew up together and went to same schools and piano singing teacher and performed at a few clubs when young together

hope you enjoy these short songs

Seems like the links don't work. If you copy and paste the links to your browser they should open. Maybe someone has a fix, but copy and paste does seem to work

Those are some good looking figs there you have Sal.
Glad you got to enjoy them.

Oh Sal , Maggie
it depends how you use word minga like some other phrases but you know.
We used that and others a lot growing up, i did not mean ugly , fat, or you know.
But here

1. an italian term for a stupid or annoying person - -----not this case ; )
2.Term of endearment between two italians ---------- yes  ; )
3.Expression of aggravation or anger ---------------- no way never get mad just even
4. Look at him. What a freakin' minga. --------- hmm not sure have not seen you or Maggie ----- now i'm l;aughing so hard i cannot run from you 2 !!!
5.Hey Minga! I haven't seen you in years!------ does not apply here
6.Ahh, minga! not again---------------------- oh no like your violet bordeaux !!!

The link it works when i copy and paste to browser
Thanks Babe !

Martin,

Aren't you supposed to hold your index, middlefinger and thumb from both hands together and sort of wave both hands back and forth when you say: Mingaaaa.

I never thought it was a bad word.

Rafed i cant do video's yet.  ; )
Noss no bad words were used in that sense, some words can go either way depending on how its used in conversation and i think its may be like that in other tongues also.

Martin, Martin, Martin, this thread is tickling me.  Rarely have I ever heard a WOMAN use Minga, so I don't want to start. We say another word in Italian/American slang, I say it alllll the time, especially when noone is around. You certainly cleared your self up quick didn't you????? :) I still know what it is meant and more used as. LOL

Rafed, you are thinking of the curse, with the fingers you are think of Zingara! this is what we say in my dialect. You keep the zingara off when you cross those fingers when someone you DO NOT like comes near you to avoid mal'occhio, the evil eye. I wear a horn around my neck with a crucifix to solve that problem, just old ways still alive and well.

Viv, I answered your email.

Hi Guys:I also had a handfull of fig on my 4 yrs Sal C,but the squirrell love this one,I couldn't taste on to this date.
I see the squierrell on top of fence munching on it ,but can't reach her ,and also my dog can't climb fence.
Now I have one coming and I wraped it in net, because I can't cover the tree being too tall.

This one I left on a little longer, and MINGA what a difference in taste a couple days make ;) You can see a little drop of honey which is a good sign of ripeness I think
Weight 47 grams

Sal, Wow! That looks great with the honey oozing out. Great picture.
