Salelm White Cuttings

This is probably no big deal for you highly experienced figheads but this was record time for anything I've rooted.  I bagged these Salem White cuttings form Bass on January 30.  This is what they looked like on February 9.  Yes, 9 days.  Holy mackerel.

Holy crap!  All six!  I had a batch of cuttings come in that did the same.  Funny, most cuttings take 2-3 weeks to get a fraction of those roots.

Good stuff, congrats!

CJ looking good, Salem Dark are also good rooters and have really nice looking leaves.

Nelson,

Yes, Salem Dark is also vigorous but I would say it is a full week behind Salem White in development.

I always knew that they're vigorous trees, You will see how quickly it will grow for you this summer. You might even see figs this year. I wasn't aware that they root much quicker than other varieties. I don't use the baggy method.

Bass I only have the dark so cant compare with the white. I did one in baggie method the other I put it in straight Pro-mix BX with Myrocise the one in the potting mix had visible roots through the cup while the one in the baggie only had bumps but both have rooted now and the one I started in the Pro-mix has the thickest roots I seen so far thicker than sphagetti really happy with the outcome.

Nelson one can attribute the big roots most probably to the nature of the cuttings and not necessarily to the PROM-MIX. Some cuttings just go wild while other cuttings in the same rooting medium are sluggish to the point that rot sets before the roots get to work.

Jenia, 9 days is pretty fast. Martin's unknown had rooted for me in ten days and I thought that was close to impossible.

Martin's Unknown rooted every cutting for me - just a natural rooter, I think. Some MU rooted better than other, but most just took off. Will have plants available later this Spring.

I've seen similar results as Nelson. I've been moving my bag rooted cuttings into 1/2 Pro-Mix BX, 1/2 Napa floor dry (diatomite), and the roots are looking much better than the same cuttings put into half and half perlite/vermiculite. Also, I was having trouble with moisture regulation of the perlite/vermiculite, and lost too many to rotting or desication.  Now the cuttings are producing abundant white, thick roots. I think the mycorrhizal fungi are partly responsible for the improved success. It is supposed to help with disease control and improve root development. The diatomite is also probably helping. It is supposed to be one of the better mediums for hydroponics due to the excellent water and air storage, and also the silica it is composed of.

About 'Pro-mix BX with Myrocise'; is Myrocise an ingredient in the Pro-Mix BX or you add it yourself to the PRO-Mix?

Hey Akram its already in the Pro-mix BX you can get the BX with either the Mycorise or BIOFUNGICIDE.
