Sal's #2,Corleone,has split:

Last night while getting ripe,it split, like the Mercedes benz emblem .It was raining.
Not good sign of adaptation for north east.
Maybe is good in Italy, but New Jersey is not Italy.
It looks like the Sal's from Gene is better as it does not have this problem at all.Gene Sal's should be called #1,so we separate the two.
Sal's #1,Gene source)is a much better fig in my opinion.
I will say more when i taste the fruit.
Sal's#1(Gene source),first and secon pix
Sal's#2 ,Corleone,Blk Sicilian,= last picture in row.

Please, explain...
George (NJ).

Well According to Gene (wich is the source of Sal's #1 for me) #1,is one of the two Sal's Belleclare have.
Sal's #2 originates at Belleclare according to you.
I did not say i bought them from Belleclare, did I.???????--This figs remain pure breed as long as they are multiplied trough cuttings.I believe you guys when write  something on this forum or on the fig forum  as none of us has anything to gain by lying.Just read the posts on the fig forum Refering to Sal's fig Dilemma. Here is what he writes:

Hi Fignut,
Belleclare had two Sal's figs, one which was the same as the Sal's from EL (which is the one that is shown on Jon's Figs4Fun web page), then a second distinct one. Then there is Robin's Sal which I believe to be a third variety -- but this will be better know in a year or so when people have more experience with Robin's fig.

I received both my (1st) Sal's and Hardy Chicago from EL. They are somewhat similar, but the Sal's I think is superior. This year George gave me one each of the second Belleclare Sal's and Robin's tree -- so I'll be like everyone else watching to see how they compare

Hi,  My uncle Nick says some Verdone figs will split kinda natural, but his is Green, even talking to other family, their Verdone splits naturally to, I don't think they are related, but maybe?  even if its Green and your's is Dark.  Don't know.  You have a Sal's.  Ciao

Today Sal"s#2 became food.
The Result:Very very good,Just a notch under Excellent.
We graded it 9.5,on a scale ,1to 10.
Here is some picture of the two different Sal's.
Sal"s #1 was 30 Grams,
Sal's #2 was 40 grams in weight.
They were both, just as tasty,But #2 positivelly is not adapted to rainy climate as good as #1.
I have in the pix 2 #1,and 1 #2fruits.Here is the difference.
