This is my Sal's Corleone in spring after I pruned it severely and today after growing since then. Hardly looks like it was pruned.

Barry the tree turned out beautiful I noticed you have about 400 cuttings in that box ,did you propagate all of the cuttings?

Imagine if you had not pruned it? Very nice tree, Barry!

Good job!  Nice tree!  Shhhhhhh  I got some Sals cuttings from JD, and they are all doing great!  In love with Sal!

Suzi

Well Barry, I guess you can say the pruning job was time well spent. The tree looks great. Very healthy looking.

When i prune mine the tree still grows upright i notice yours grows sideways.

Barry, Italian figs grow well in Italian neighborhoods.

tree looks great.
dave - here is what he did with all the cuttings

Barry- what's the history of that tree? Age? How long before you put it in-ground? Does it get full sun? Do you winter protect?

Thanks everyone, I am very happy with this tree.

Dave, as was noted, most of the cuttings were distributed among members of this forum, hope everyone was able to root at least one.

Martin, I still haven't figured out jow to turn the pics, lol.

Bass, good thing my neighborhood isn't Italian, or this tree would be crazy big.

Tim, Got the tree about 5 years ago. I kept it in a pot for a year or so, then in ground. This is one of Belleclaire's varieties. Not all day sun as it is on the side of my house and the next door neighbor's house does shade it part of the day. I did protect it the first 2 years, but not since. Planting it close to the house does offer some protection though.

I just want to know the trick to growing it sideways. This could be the biggest thing since sliced bread.

It's easy Rafed, just tilt your head, works well for dark and light figs

LOL

BLB, one way is in windows picture and fax viewer .
When you open picture on hardrive on bottom to right of the + and - sign magnify glass you will see little type arrows point up. Hold your pointer over it and it tells you rotate clockwise or counter.

So I should be able to turn it before posting it?

Yes BLB....before posting is when to do it!

Barry,

Today I can conclusively say that you will have to send me more cuttings the next time you prune and I promise to be more assiduous in my treatment of them.

Barry, they are even more impressive right side up.

Dale, not a problem, just send me a pm in the fall.

Gene, Thanks a million!! They do look better right side up!!

Hey Martin!! Hey Rafed!!

I could quite possibly enjoy a S/C for the first time ever as long as those dirty, rotten, slimy, smelly, ugly, thieving tree rats can keep their dirty, rotten, slimy, smelly, ugly, thieving claws away!

Been monitoring this fig for a few days.

If it's missing, it's all out war! No Mercy!

Suzi, get ready!

Rafed, don't be so hard on the tasty little critters. I invited 5 of them over for dinner the other night and man were they delicious. I swear I think I could taste a hint of fig in their sweet flesh.

Barry I wouldn't mind a couple of cuttings myself. Seems like I can root all the other Sal's but not the "C". I'll touch base with you later in the year.

Gene,

You can have all those tree rats.

Hey bud, you just don't know what you're missing. I'll save some for Linda to cook up for you on your next visit. You're always looking for some good ol' Cajun food and that's some of the best.

LOL, I'll stick to the crawfish.
