them in half MG moisture retention soil and half perlite.  They were outside in
90-100 degree weather.  It worked great on most of my cuttings, but not these.

Thanks. I happened to use half perlite, half SuperSoil brand. I'd be careful using anything that 'retained water'. I'm impressed that your cuttings survived such high temperatures.

Traveling with them? Did they need passports? ;)

Thanks. I wish. My success rate did increase as I got more cuttings over the season. There was much to learn. :)

"Nice looking tiny trees!  So cute at that size."

Thanks, yes they are cute. Sal's Corleone has such petite, 'lacy' leaves.

"Where did you get your SuperSoil mix?"

HomeDepot. 2 cubic feet bags. I think just under $8. SuperSoil has changed its formulation over the years and it's not nearly as good as it used to be. More coarse. But it still works well enough.

5 months after Barry offered the SC cuttings....

Here is the largest of the rooted Sal's Corleone. The white measure is 1 foot long. It is now in a pot 1 foot across and doing well. I pinched the terminal bud about a week ago, and a few figlets started growing.

And with baby figlets:

Wow, great job Gina.  I am so envious.  That is the cutting that I really wanted to grow and I simply failed.  You were right about the soil.  I kept it in soil too moist.  Then I pulled them out and tried the baggie method which seemed to work, but I was traveling too much and I think I kept the cuttings a little too moist and they didn't get enough sun.   Disaster.  Well, I learned a lot.  Those cuttings looked so healthy too, I thought they would take no problem.  It felt like Christmas when I got them and I'm sorry I didn't do them right.

Gina, you are a master at rooting cuttings!! Looks fantastic! Figfanatic, just remind me in the fall, I'll be happy to send you more scion.

Gina, I just want to say thank you!

As someone who has given away cuttings to a lot of people, I have endless appreciation for those who keep the original sender updated with progress of the cuttings they sent.  It reminds me that I haven't been doing that enough the last year or two.

Gina SC tree  look very nice. Thank you for all of the updates so far. Can I ask you if you can explain the way how you root your  cuttings?

Only 2 years ago this was considered one of the top sought after figs.

It's amazing to see how it has spread. Only a select few had it at the time.

John, That is really good to see. Your plant slooks great too! I am very glad that the scion I sent out has been successfully propagated by several of those I sent it to.  Any of you who haven't had success that I sent scion to this spring, pm me in the fall and I will send you more.
