sangue doce fig?

hiya guys. in a recent post this fig was cited as having a peach taste better than any peach. this is a great description of the taste of my morle paradissio.

the morle tree clearly isn't related to the 3 paradissio varieties i'm familiar with. it may well be a sangue doce morle is selling as paradissio. paradissio is apparently a common name for figs, all of which have the exact same story  of some guy sitting under his fig tree and calling it paradise.

thing is, i can't find any info on the sague doce. just going by the better than any peach peach taste it sounds like mine.

has anyone seen a pic of this tree? i'm really really curious.

Interesting, Susie, I was thinking to ask the same question for but you were quicker.

It is an unknown.  The person that has it is no longer a member of this forum.  I have cuttings so maybe in the summer some pictures will be available.

wills, i would be very thankful if you post some pics.

I would be thankful if they would root:)  It has been 60+ days and no roots...they still look perfect just no roots.

wills, have you seen the parent tree?  morle has a good pic of his paradisio on his site. the leaves are distinctive

I'm pretty sure that I have read some discussion here or on the gardenweb forum that the Morle Paradiso is Brunswick or a Brunswick variant.  Brunswick's can be excellent if ripened under the right conditions (i.e. dry).

thanks rewt. i just looked at pics. the leaves sure look alike.

Susie,

I have not seen the parent tree but he has Paradiso so it isn't that.

wills, morle paradisio isn't related to paradisios. rewt, there seems to be some confusion about brunswick figs.  in pics of the fruit, some look purple. others show bronze. mine are bronze. no purple at all. still the morle paradisio looks related to brunswick. i haven't found where brunswick came from morle claims his came directly from italy.

joe and gene's Paradiso has been discussed before. Joe's Paradiso is also Paradiso. it seems in italy, there are number of unrelated figs called Fico Paradiso. Joe's Paradiso came from italy, and maggie also has same Paradiso from italy, but from a different source.

Susie,

I was being lazy by just typing Paradiso....the Doce is not Morle Paradiso.
