Santa Cruz Dark Breba

Here are a few SCD breba i left on in various stages of ripening phase.
Laid on ground to take middle picture for different angle and the eye of fig.

Main crop of course will come later.

Thanks Noss you always are kind.  ; )

I picked this breba today .
Last season i was able to taste main crop of this plant for first time and was not fond of taste. Said to myself give it more time .

This season i left 4-5 breba figs on to see how those taste.
I tasted it and quickly tasted mulberry , several weeks ago i was just eating off a illinois everbearing mulberry .

Now im curious to see what the main crop taste like this season and it has nice amount of them to try.

Tree has this season and 1 more to convince me but still have my doubts.
I dont want decent tasting figs.

Had several more breba's to taste .  Although fully ripe for my palate they were not good.

Martin,

Was thinking to get this variety for a while, but your posts about its taste might refrained me from doing so.
Does the figs get any darker than the ones that you posted?

No no Navid don't let my taste buds sway you, we all have what we like . ; )

Some might really enjoy this type of fig plant, but so far not me.
I wait to taste main crop and compare to last season also.

They may get a shade darker but not much, main crop is similar but of course smaller as breba tends to be bigger than main on many fig plants.
Here is last breba of this plant taken today.

Martin,

Thanks for posting those pics. It would be very nice if it did taste as good as it looks. With some figs taste will improve as they age, maybe SCD is one of them. I think I'll wait another season to get this variety ONLY if you see improvements in its taste so, please keep us posted.

Thank you

@Martin -- yup, that's the right color. Big fig though. Ditto on the taste. Hope taste improves with age(next yr) otherwise going to someone's home.

Had last breba same size and color. Took a bite and then discarded the rest of it.
Have main crop to taste late August probably.
