Santa Fig.

Decided to wrap one of my fig trees.

And had a extra Santa hat lying around so...

Ever see a wrapped POTTED fig tree before?

The weather has still been warmish here, without any cold nights, and as of now the tree doesn't need any protection  but the tree is young and I have not over-wintered any figs before this year.

Most of my trees are indoors, with just a couple under my patio to see how they fare.

Two figs trees in pots ( two years old and up ) I am going to leave unprotected.

Since the patio is covered, it might protect the trees from the Freezing rain, wind and snow.

If this warm spell keeps up, I might even remove the wrap on this one.

I always wanted to wrap a tree after seeing my Italian neighbors do it on their trees.

I think it adds a Holiday touch to the garden..

Ho, Ho, Ho, and a great idea. Looks great but will you wrap it with some waterproof material to keep the burlap dry.

Gene,

My Patio is covered. That fig is gonna spend winter there.
Other than a stray misting, it should not see snow or rain.

But just to be on the safer side, I placed a breathable, weather-resistant blanket
underneath the Burlap.

I could have placed the protective blanket on top of the Burlap, but I like the
old time look of the burlap on top.

And I also used Foil- wrapped bubble insulation round the pot to keep the roots and soil warmer.

It should be enough protection.
