Santa's List

I don't have much of a start. I have a brown turkey and a black mission that's about two years old. I would have to say that almost any fig tree would be a favorite. I bought some cuttings from ebay last month that did not succeed. They looked dry when I got them and they have not shown any rooting start. I guess that's how it is sometimes. I'm learning.

Wish list: Any

I would love to unwrap Maltese Beauty.

Well, Santa has already visited me in the form of some very generous forum members I must say :-)  I have very little on the Santa Wish List, perhaps Maltese Beauty, based on the reports of some of our knowledgeable forum members, as well as Noir De Caromb for the same reasons. I received a very, very special cutting just this week out of the blue from one of our forum members that epitomizes this holiday season for me (you know who you are, and I thank you), and to several other exceedingly generous forum members, who sent me extra cuttings of different cultivars beyond what I purchased, simply because they were generous.  I hope to be able to grow all cuttings in my lovely little greenhouse, and hoping for a wee bit warmer weather right now.  We're getting our "winter" now, and it's a little chilly outside right now - highs today were only in the mid 50's, and fortunately we've got cloud cover tonight, so lows will be in the mid to high 40's.  That's on the chilly side for us here in San Diego county, Calif! May everyone get all their figs on their Santa Wish List!

Well Danny if you would like a few Celeste cuttings let me know. Send me a PM.

Santa came through for me lightning fast, thanks Santa!!

dear santa,

i changed my mind. i just want some fig that ripens during this time of the year in NC. and, of course, MALTESE BEAUTY!!! but i think i might have MB before this time next year.

I only have my LSU Purple - which I absolutely love!!! - and I have promised cuttings to some already.  I am not sure how much I will prune it, if I have more than I anticipate I will surely post it here.   However, there may be a surprise in the works in late winter -

This thread had me in stitches (pardon the pun). Now, since we're wishing, I want a cross between LSU Red and Nexxoe: Red Nex. That would be hit around here.

Well, my two from Santa would have to be Improved Celeste and LSU Tiger.  I think these would do well in the humid climate of central Florida.  I would love try some of the more exotics but I don't think they would hold well to our heat and humidity.

Hey Dale - come on down!!

They're everywhere;)

No prob ohjustaguy keep me/us posted if it is available I would love to grow it... Great story.

Gee Santa, is it too late to change my list?  I still want everyone to get the figs on their Xmas list but now I also want 3 acres of land to start my mini fig orchard.

More fig-friendly (cheap?!) land to grow more of them...

I second the vote for more land. I have a couple of acres that I am grateful for but would love to have more. After all they aren't making anymore

Dear Santa,
I would like a fig tree that grows sweet tasting figs the size of a grapefruit with dark skin, and an interior as red as a candy apple, that fruits year round and can tolerate -10.
I don't think that's too much to ask.
Please Santa, I'm only asking for one.
