Saturdays fig gathering

Who is going and what are you bringing?  I can bring if interested a 5 gal mary lane and improved celeste, any size latarolla and a few other varieties if wanted.  Either post here or send me an e-mail.  See you next saturday

Ed

Ed, where and when is this gathering?

2nd annual fig growers meeting in the northeast region.

Ed  have a few small sicilian reds some stellas, italian honey, Dottato all in 1 gal pots. I also will be bringing some scion from a few varieties.. let me know if you want to trade for a lattarola.

Is Latrolla is the same as Italian Honey? What other varieties do you have?

NE sounds good.  Have a 6.2 gal verte and a 3 gal desert king with some nice figs on it. How is sicilian red different from sicilian black, other than the color?  Any idea as to it's cold hardiness? 71, they are pretty similar, in my opinion, the main difference I see is latarolla is larger, more cold hardy and has a redder interior.  I think it blows away Italian honey taste wise, but that is a subjective thing.

Ed

I can bring triple crown thornless blackberry cuttings or seedlings if anybody would like some of them .

Hi Debbie
I would like to buy some blackberry cuttings.
Vito

I will bring you some, no need for money but do you have
any fig cuttings you could trade ?

debbie i will trade some fig cuttings for the berries
Ed I have no experience with sicilian black the mother tree is in ground and never covered about 25 ft high by 30 ft round more like a large bush. Great flavor one of my favorites..

Ok so thats 2 sets of cuttings to bring so far .
sicilian black cuttings sound great.

Dennis,
The meeting is in Pennsylvania.
It is called  2nd Fig growers meeting
from 02/06/11 .

Yes Debbie I will bring you some cuttings,
some Dark and some green they are unknown but great figs.
Vito

Deb, I will bring something to trade for triple crown if any left.  What are some varieties you are looking for?

Ed

Man, i don't know what to do, lol! I have this urge to pick up as many trees as possible, but i have 4 inground now and a bunch of growing cuttings. NE how does the sicilian red do in a pot? Ed how do the Verte and Latrolla do in pots? I don't have much in the way of trade. I do have 6 month old cuttings still in thier intial pots. I don't know what type they are. They are from my wifes grandfathers trees. He tells me they came fom Sicily originally. Don't feel any obligation to trade, this is my first year and i don't have much stock, yet!

I have nothing to trade. But I am very excited to meet and greet and get as much information as can learn.

I'll second that.

Ed,
I am looking for Panache,Texas Everbearing or anything
early or everbearing or large.
I also have a Cherry Tree that I could take cuttings
from Bing and Rainier.Do people take Cherry Tree cuttings ?
If they do, I have them. And I am also very excited to
meet and greet . I have bought, won or received
something from most of the people comming , I should
have a list but I don't yet. Sorry.

I have 2 trays of assorted succulent plants for sale or trade and a couple Jolly Tiger starts. My JT starts don't look as nice as I'd hoped as dummy me put them out a bit too early and the cooler temps and sun kinda set them back a bit, but they are on the rebound. Looking forward to a good day!!!

Barry

We're expecting showers tomorrow, and it will only be in the 60's so dress warm.

Thank you all for coming today.

No thank you for having us

What a great time I had!  Got to meet a lot of great people and visit a master orchardist.  Where else can you buy a nice sized jujube and then have a 2nd variety grafted onto it right in front of you! (for free)  Thanks Bass and to all who attended.

Glad you all had
a great day!

Ed, I hope you find the two plants you're missing. Did anyone grab an LSU purple and a Paradiso by mistake?

I hop you guys learned some grafting tips today.

Sorry no ripe fruit to serve you today... Stop by again in the summer when they begin fruiting.
