Wow, it is even better than anticipated. Since the figs had no figgy flavor and had more of a honey/berry profile, the pie tastes exactly like strawberry-rhubarb pie. Now, I know I am definitely going back for more figs next week.

Looks good!  Cut me a slice!

Strawberry rhubarb pie is one of my favorites so I know I'd like it.

Here is the recipe for the pie:

5 c. whole fresh figs, stemmed
1/4 c. lemon juice
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. corn starch
1/4 tsp. fresh ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground allspice

Puree figs in blender with lemon juice. In medium saucepan, combine sugar, spices and cornstarch. Whisk together to blend. Pour fig puree into pan. Stir. Cook slowly over medium/high heat until thickened and no longer starchy-tasting. Pour thickened mixture into a pre-baked pie crust. Allow to cool, then chill. Serve with whipped cream.

In the fall/winter, yes, I plan to get more cuttings. Just PM me then to remind me if you want some. I took a small amount last year for myself and a few others. The tree could use a good pruning.

Very nice John, and thanks for the recipe...when my Ischia Green tree ripens there are usually well over 300 figs to deal with, and there is only so much fig jam that you can make(35 jars last year)...so this year we are going to have "figgy pie" as well...by the way I love strawberry-rhubarb pie too, so this will be an additional end of Summer treat.
