Nicely concealed, Marius!

Beautiful - very green and lush. Nice job. How many figs are in ground there?

That is awesome view looks like a lot of fig plants there.Thank you for the pictures.

Nichole...around my house ,i have 35 varieties of figs inground.

Nice - impressive. And it looks nice too. I like the lay out.

beautiful marius....looks like an open invitation to the people on the block....

Marius, You say you have 35 varities in the ground, I'd love to see the list of names. This way I'll have more idea's what to plant. Your climate has to be close, if not colder. I know this is a lot to ask, so if you can thank you.

luke

That looks very well laid out, and must be easy on pulling weeds.

Luke...starting from my garage...Alma,florea,celeste belleclare,sal's el,salem dark,salem white,petite aubique,chico strawberry,excel,latarulla,violette de bordeaux,tena,ronde de bordeaux,nordland,paradiso,natalina,armenian,snowden,white triana,lsu purple,lsu black,143-36,smith,ta-cenc,marseille black,red lebanese,chikishlyraskii,madelaine des 2 saisons,camuna black,noire de caromb,jim's choice,278-128,tacoma violet,black greek,vashon,danny;s delite,black bethlehem,lsu gold,violeta bayernfeige,gino,aked,grisse de st-jean+ some unknown varieties from Astoria(NY),Spain and Italy.

That looks really nice. My plan is to plant many of mine - kept in bush form like those - in the front yard as ornamentals. Glad to see how good it looks.

How do you water them?

;-))))

Marius
I see you have  snowd en in your list. I got a cutting from UDC in march and it is growing well, there is 1 fig on it.

Does it ripen for you?

What can you tell me about it? I can not find too much about it.

Bugs

Marius, now you're in for it!  :)  What about Ta Cenc?  There's almost nothing on that one in the forums.  What's the taste like, how early does it ripen?  Thanks!

Thank you Sir. Very super list, and it really nice set-up. Have all of these been thru winter? If so, is there any special way you cover, and is there any that can handle without covering. Looks by your list, I'll be able to add a few more that are hardy.

luke

Beautiful. Inspires me to put more in ground. If I were to prune to bush form every year, would I need to worry about the roots. My yard isn't that big.

Most of them(80%) died in the winter.I do not protect them anymore, too much work!!!That's the reason i have so many cuttings in fall. The ones close to the house survive the winter unprotected(young/green branches dies).Bugs...,snowden is from UC Davis,on his second year with 7 figs on plant.Last year was a cutting and i had no figs. Rcantor...Ta Cenc is close to the house...produce a very large yellow brebas, yellow interior with almost no seeds, very sweet(similar with Vashon). For the main crop, you need a long and hot summer,it's a late fig.Got it from Jon(Encanto),maybe he knows more about it.

How far apart are they planted?

Thanks.

Thanks Marius. I read that Snowden needs fig wasps to ripen. I was hoping some one on the forum was having luck with it ripen in the north east.  Keep us posted.  Good luck with your Snowden.

Your yard looks GREAT. Thank for the pic.

Bugs

Gina, they are planted 10 ft away.  Bugs, this is my little Snowden plant...+some more figs around my house. Thanks for looking.

Thank you for great fig garden pictures.  That give me an idea to plant some fig at a sunny slope.  How do you keep it dry out quickly at the slope?

Marius, Did your Snowden every ripen? If so what did it taste like.

Hi Bugs. They did not, still hanging in there...or maybe not.

Mine Snowden got big, changed color was ready to pick, the next day it was gone. The only fig I lost. Look around the plant and could not find it any were. Don't know where it went. There is always next year.
