Scion Exchanges near me?

How do ya'll find out about scion exchanges.  It seems like they're always in CA.  Do we ever have them in upstate NY?
Timothy

There in an awesome one in Main http://www.fedcoseeds.com/trees/scionwood.htm

You can also join us online at the North American Scion Exchange, we currently have Facebook and yahoo groups, a dedicated site is in the works.

Probably no fig cuttings at the MOFGA scionswap in Maine... but hundreds of other goodies, all free!   It's a great event.

Hi Timothy.
I leave in Saratoga, send me a message.
Vito

Thanks everyone!  Will do Vito.

Tim,
Have one!
All you need is to get together a small group of like minded people.  Plan on a small get together, contact your local Master Gardener group (County Extension Agent), put together a flyer, put the flyer in feed stores or garden centers to solicit interest.  Talk to respondees, have a pot luck get together.  It will work.  Do a forum search on "Texas Big Fig Gig"  this is how we did it, it worked, we were going for a bigger group but the concept is the same.  Lots of work to do the first one, well worth it.

You read my mind.  Unfortunately timing isn't good for me to do it right now but I'm definitely going to keep it in mind for the future.  I think there are more people interested in figs around me than first thought.  I knew someone that drove out to Boston to buy some trees from Joe M., after his wife realized they need to come in the garage in winter he had to get rid of them.  Put em on craigslist and they were all sold for more than he paid the same day.
I just wasn't sure if there is a set way that people find out about these events and if they were being held near me right under my nose.

I vote to have a NJ one at Bill's Figs in Flemington in March. Just bring your pruners and a couple of your cuttings to leave behind. Everyone bring bring BBQ stuff, beer, whatever. BTW. Don't tell Bill.

I just started a Facebook group "New Jersey Fig Collectors". We'll see how it goes. Maybe we could set something up for early spring?

We have a scion exchange at the Backyard fruit growers in March. Also we usually have a fig gathering at my place in spring.

Bass - do you announce the exchanges in this forum? I'm in northern NJ, so general vicinity.

Yes we will announce all the fig grower gatherings here.
