Gina, Yea that's about what I looked like :-). As to why they threw them out ? The clerk had no clue what they even were. He said that he didn't even knew they could grow fig's here in Washington 

Impressive!  Lurking at a nursery or garden center's trash bins enables some good finds!  Anyone who has a clue can recognize and regenerate a sad plant.  You are so lucky!  Enjoy!

Bargains can be found at the box stores quite often. Our local Lowes usually has a few racks of discounted stuff annuals, perennials, sometimes fruit trees or berry vines. Just have to be at the right place and time.

I went back to the 'Farm Store' A few days later to get some lump charcoal and pellets for my smoker. I  was smokin up 2 briskets for the long weekend get together. I found out why they were discounting and tossing their plants. The side yard where they had all of the trees and berry bushes was full of BBQ's, Picnic Tables and Above Ground Pools. Out front they had several fruit trees and some sickly looking tomatoes . I just couldn't resist , I came home with three Combo Apple trees and 4 Sweet100 Tomatoes. all for just under $20.00
