Is there an easy way to find the members by a region?
Let's say I want to find out who is from California/Arizona/Nevada ?

It is not a doable thing, yet. Probably will have to wait till we move to our new software.

how about a google map with member locations optional?

I found how to search by a keyword, or in my case, by a state. The limitation of the web tool is that looks for the exact word. 

Example: you want to search for "California" . Enter the word in the "Location:" field and hit the search button at the bottom.
But! If a member put as their location "SoCal" or "NorCal", the web search will not find it.

So, in that case you need to enter "Cal" and the tool finds more entries.

So for now, if you want to be easier searchable, please don't shorten the words.

Interesting! Many members do not list their cities, so the most you can use are the state names.
Did you write script to collect the user data from the search output?
I think I am too technical here for the most of the members here. Let's discuss offline.

I'd be interested in getting the link to that map.  I live in NE Texas and I haven't seen a lot of members from my area.

The map is a great start but has a limited data.
You would be better of searching in my link above hoping that the Texas members put NE Texas in their location field.
