Selling UC Davis Cuttings

See Ebay

I see 4 new listings that seem suspiciously like someone is reselling UC Davis cuttings. Anyone know this seller?

That picture looks familiar to me, perhaps from one of the forum's Sellers.  I can't recal who put their cuttings on top of the Priority box, but it was just like that.

noss

The picture looks familiar to me, too. Did VS have his cuttings on a box last year?

Susan

Hermansur always has a picture of his cuttings on the box.
He has 3 up right now.

Most of Hermans photos are from his back yard of accual plants and fruits.

I bought several from Herman in the last 3 months.

That seems to be his trademark.

That ebay person used Hermans Past auction pictures.

Sure looks like Hermans pictures being used.

Looks like when I start posting my fig pics I'm going to start to do what Martin does.
I will start to print my name on the pics and so should everyone else.

Somehow everything got reversed in my last post
Picture on top of post.

Yes Rafed that is best and makes 1 shy generally away from copying ones picture.
Reporting stolen pictures to ebay and getting it removed can take as lilttle as 20 minutes or up to 5 days from what i have read on ebay.

The person already has bids on 2 of his auctions- just looked.

Anyways yes Hermans picture was used in that listing .
The person that used it registered with ebay as a seller Feb 14th, 2011
and also had a total of 4 of Hermans pictures in listing on Ebay and has 5 other different items for auction.

All this information is available to look at if your a ebay member.
Useing someones elses pictures for profit Without persmission from that person is another story.
Weather that was done or not only 2 people know whats what.

I might add if these are truly UC Davis cuttings being resold then shame on the seller. I don't care who it is.
Sets a low profile on this person.

These people are privileged to get them, it is not a right. And he/she or they are abusing this privilege.

Sort of possibly ruining it for everyone else for future distribution.

That's assuming they are UC cuttings.

Add insults to injury, using someone elses pictures to sell their product?

Just another picture hijack!

Not H2!
He does not live in FL....

It looks like they stole one of Herman's photos.

Question:  Why does this look like it is a UCD cutting?  Am I missing something?

George you type
Just another picture hijack!

Not H2! He lives in NJ, not FL....

Yes H2 lives in NJ
The person that used Hermans pictures lives in Florida.
Thats the link that Jon posted.

Jon thats a new registered seller from last week , i dont recognzce the ebay ID .

Jason , i cant speak Jons thoughts but perhaps they may be something from UcDavis or his own collection.
One thing is for sure that picture matches Hermans past n present listings EXACTLY.

It is a seller with only 1 feedback.

The cuttings are longer in length, which is more typical of Davis cuttings.

They are varieties which all come from Davis and generally are not seen, otherwise.

They are for sale just as Davis figs start arriving.

I don't know if there is anything amiss - just asking the question because of all the coincidences.

The punicia varieties are not usually seen pistachios don't do well in Fl. and all of their listings except the pear are are available at UC Davis.
Maybe they could not afford the postage and had to sell them but thats no excuss for the pics

I don't believe in coincidences, personally.  But you never know ....

I'd be pretty disgusted if it were the case though.  One person could ruin a good thing for everyone.

Ah, I see now ... here is everything this person is selling:

Yeah.

Cuttings grouped in 3's at up to 12" long.
Sounds exactly like UCD.

Sketchy.  Makes me sort of sick to think it could be just that.

I questioned the source of these cuttings too. Here is a copy of my message and his reply to me.

Dear Dan,

These are from fig trees I am growing. Some of them were obtained from Uc Davis in the past, some are from tree I purchased from local nursury.

Dear wala5732,

Are you selling cuttings from UC Davis in this auction?

Dan

I am also curious to know why it seems they are using Herman's eBay pictures.

I think I found my answer here. 2nd entry. Check out the Thulu peach cuttings also.

Jon, I did check out the Peach Cuttings this person is offering, and I noticed that he had misinformation in the listing. He says "Cuttings are used to grow  new plants." and while that is true for Fig and some other cuttings, it is false for plants like Peaches. The peach tree cuttings can be successfully grafted onto living root stock, but will not grow roots well on their own. So, it appears that what we have here is a person that is Greedy and Ignorant. Unfortunately this type of person is all too common in our world today. I wish we could do something about it, but I don't know what.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and smells like a duck..... then you know the rest....

Yes,That is my Pix,but I do not make a big deal why he is using it.
It is just a picture of cuttings, but I wonder why did not he used the cuttings he has for sale to take a pix out of them.
Makes me wonder what cuttings someone might receive ,from him, maybe some privet hedge cuttings!

Hi Tom

It is very easy to grow peach trees from hard wood cutting.

If someone asked me can i use your pictures and give recognition where they came from i dont have a problem.

Trouble with a person in this such case  they will eventually use others until its brought to there attention that they should take there own time and not use someone elses work.
Thats just my opinion .
