Send me Fig Jam

Hi folks
I'm willing and wanting to purchase several jars of your fig jam/presersves. 4 jars. I will be happy to send payment. I didn't freeze fruit this winter because I ate them all. PM me

Jennifer

If you like I can show you how to make jam with the dried figs you find in the stores.
I can get fig jam from middle eastern store for about $6-$7 a jar.

I never tried store bought. Did they make them? Looking for someone with huge orchards that has tons of jam who don't know what to do with it. Jams that I would make from Walmart sounds a little "iffy". Walmart carries mission (sort of taste pruney) don't know what it is about homemade preserve/jam but I thought this could be nice. A great idea for those who want to make side $ before the holidays. Bass, tell me more on your take of the jams you mentioned. Your a good source anyway. If your the only one willing to send, I will buy from you. So far 70 people viewed, your the only one who replied.

Additional side note: my brother-in-law's fiancé is Jewish, I have no idea what to get her, so sending some jars of preserve/jam would be a neat idea for a gift basket

I bought a small jar of Fig Jam from a store called Fresh & Easy for about $4.99.  They still have some.  But shipping glass jars could be pretty pricey!  I have never had enough ripe figs to make jam from, and it's doubtful I will.  JD is diabetic, so sugar is OUT!  This jar is called Dalmatia Fig Spread and it's from Dalmatia Import Group, Inc.  It's packaged at this facility.  DELICIOUS!!

I'm actually happy you posted this thread Jen, because it made me go to the website, and I found recipes to use with my jam!  Gonna go buy more today!

The nicer Safeway grocery stores carry Dalmatia. Whole Foods does also. It's good.

Lol- you guys are awesome. I checked out some recipe for stuffed fig with walnuts on Bass's site. The dried fig on his site looked way.. Better than the ones we have in Idaho. I think what he has is Turkish dried figs (not sure) but at any case we don't have those either. So I may have to order some off of Amazon.com, I will try it. The last resort is to go to my grocery store and substitute for mission dried figs- Sunmaid is the brand or is it Dole? I have no idea. I am making a Fig Gift basket.

So far, I plan on putting in the gift basket with homemade fig cookies, fig balasmic dressing, fig Bon-bons (chocolate coated figs with bourbon), and fig preserves.
-fig cookies (posted reciepe; will make 48hrs before holidays)
-fig balsamic (bought at my work at Ste. Chapelle winery)
-fig jam (waiting)
-fig bon-bons (online) :-)

Real good tasting figs are those fresh_ones ripened off the tree; period!
Any other by_product is "you name it" ...

We used Bass' recipes to make fig jam last year.....YUMMY!!!!!!

i wish i had enough figs to make preserve and all that stuff. most of the figs go directly into my mouth, rest are enjoyed by our local winged rats.

I bought those Dalmatie fig preserves.  They're made from dried figs and don't taste nearly as good as the ones I reviewed.

Bob, thanks for the leg work on all those different preserves. I never would have tried so many, very useful, I'm going to keep my eye open for these when Christmas shopping this year. Now I wish I wouldn't have just picked up a jar of Dalmatia last week! I haven't opened it yet, maybe I can return it.

Others may feel differently.  You should try it at least (the Dalmatia).

Another idea is to go into a local ethnic Middle Eastern, Greek, European or Turkish grocery.  they should have some.  I only get ones where figs are the first ingredient.

There's an expensive sounding one in Meridian, but a few in Boise

I do like the Dalmatia, but it takes me awhile to get through a jar. I would like to try something better, especial if it tasted even remotely of fresh figs.
This time of year, for social events, it always goes well to cut the top off a round of brie and melt it in an oven or microwave, then nuke the jar of Dalmatia and pour over the top. Serve with crackers and or bread, you take home an empty plate every time.

JD, Mr. Diabetic, just agreed to a spoonful of Dalmatia, and he is so in love!  "Wow!  That stuff is great!!"

First and last taste.  Just wanted his reaction.  Would rather have him around, so no more!!

How does the saying go?

Hot and dry give him I (insulin), cool and clammy give him fig jammy.  :)

cis4elk, he depends on that insulin to much.  Aint going to happen!  Not on my watch!!

Suzi

yupe. insulin is good. i can tell the difference when i need them. tho, i'm getting really tired of poking myself with needles.

Trader Joe's here in the north east (Maryland) carries their own brand of Fig Jam and it is what you wish they would fill "Fig Newtons" with!!!!!

Try it, you will like it!

My sister works at Trader Joe's here in Ga so I'm gonna see if they have some here.
There is an antique shop here as well in Ga that sells fig preserves that is ok.
Nothing like my buddy's grandmother makes in Louisiana. Its the best strawberry/fig jam it tastes yummy.
Been a few years since I have had any though!? Time to make a phone call and beg for some!!

I used up my last fig jam today, had it for lunch figs with walnuts and added some tahini sauce, wrapped in a pita bread, goes well with coffee.
I will be making more if I get a chance this week. I will try to make extra and will let you know.

These guys make the best jams IMO, they have two different fig flavors....very good....

Go to Amazon and do a basic search for 'fig jam' - many types come up.

Jam is one of the things I want to make next year. Well, maybe not 'jam', but a fruit spread of some sort - cooked down figs with no added sugar.

Gina, why are you taking away from my fig jam business. :-)
