shade tolerant figs...

Are any varieties of fig more likely to produce in shade?  The north side of my house gets only a few hours direct sun a day, but plenty of Alabama heat. I know its not ideal, but has anyone had at least marginal success with a particular type?

I would like to plant some tree on my driveway but get sun in morning then late afternoon.

I have heard a forum member mention having success with archipel in shade.

Thanks. Will check it out. Thanks

The fig literature recommend Osborn Prolific,(Archipel) as shade tolerant.
My experience growing both, contradict ,the story.
My opinion:The fig that will most likely produce good ripe fruits,is  any fig that is extremely early ripening main crop and ,i suggest:
Improved Celeste (ORN)
Ronde de Bordeaux
If a lot of rain in your place,at ripening time, then only ,improved Celeste will do.
If moderate rains, both are very good, and will produce delicious fruits.
If dry climate while ripening,Florea will do just fine, too.!
These are all figs that ripe  starting before August 1,main crop ,here in NJ,of course your area ,might start sooner.

Thanks, good info. I am rooting an improved Celeste (aka O'rouke from petals from the past) so I will give it a go.

Here we go again. The orourke / improved celeste discussion. There is a open topic on this further down the topic list. Check it out. I think they are correct. IC SINGLE TO THREE LOBED LEAVES O'ROURK 3 TO 7 LOBED LEAVES. FRUIT DIFFERENT TOO.
