    Looks like it might be a good idea, it appears to be nice and sturdy.  Maybe the cap can be modified so that the stem of the fig tree goes through the hole where the straw used to be, thus keeping all the dirt inside the cup, and giving some stability to the trunk of the tree.  Keep us posted on your results with this item.  Thanks for sharing.

Ok, now I see what you have there. I guess you can still fit a reasonably small tree completly inside the container and get pretty good protection for shipping. Let me know how you make out.  Good luck.

The only problem with that container is that the postal service doesn't allow shipping of alcohol so if it gets flagged, they might open it.
