Shipping figs in USPS shipping tubes

I'm looking into using the USPS shipping tubes to ship fig plants still in cups.  The cup size plants and light mix don't weigh that much.  Easily under 2lbs thus reducing shipping cost.  The only concern I have is drying out but if I hydrate the cup before shipping and pack with damp paper towels or newspaper in a baggy I think it will be find for 2-3 day USPS priority mail.

Tom, here's an idea.  Get some of those Moist Crystals, soak them in water.  When they suck up the water, just take a hand full and stuff it inside the pot and secure the top of the pot with some waxed cordboard,, bag, tape and tie everything up and you're good to go!  SOmetime I ship trees with that stuff.  It works great!  Just a teaspoon of those crystals expands to a lot!  It expands to a cup and it weighs next to nothing on a bare root ball tree.  Trust me, you will have no leaks.

Thanks.  I'll go out and get some.  Looks like HD carries it.

Tom,

I have used and received trees in these with no problems. With the small tubes one can easily fit two small trees with no problem.

Thank you for Posting this Video Clip.....may try it soon.....You're videos are what started my cutting hobby.....Thanks Again
