Hey everyone, here is some really good dried fig from Iran. They are the small green figs dried in this "bone dry" style many of you have sampled. This was the finest quality and most expensive dried fig, it was probably twice as delicious and better texture than most of the "bone dry" figs I've had even in Iran. They are grown in Estahban, Iran for drying but the original small green fig comes from the mountains near Shiraz.

I know some members are growing this guy from seed and calling it "Shirazi" which kind of translates to "from Shiraz." I am growing this from scion and it seems to be doing well. I wanted to share some of the leaf pictures in case any seedling growers wanted to compare as well. If there are no objections, for now I will call mine I am growing Shiraz Green. Wasp status and performance in climate is still unknown. However, I keep being excitedly reassured from growers in southern Iran that this fig will not be like my other figs. Eaten fresh, while small sized, it is supposed to be amazing. I think the small size of the fruit is a good thing for adaptability to our East coast conditions. Although, I will say the most fruit tastes amazing grown in the climate of southern Iran... :D
Here he is first putting out leaves and one of them put out what seemed to be a cute little breba but I picked it off (had no roots yet).

They are obviously young and it is unclear what the leaf will eventually look like--plenty of leaf diversity for now. Some of them look a bit funky if I didn't know better I'd expect FMV. But for clarification this is one of my only figs I have seen no certain signs of FMV. I looked it up, and according to a journal article southern Iran is one of the few places in Iran that has no evidence of FMV in their stock. So this guy should be clean as a whistle and I am keeping him isolated from any potential FMV sources just in case he takes it poorly.
Hopefully one day I will be updating with pictures of the exterior... and interior of this fig.
