Shirazi seedling

Leaves look just like all mine.

Is it a general fig (F.carica) seedling characteristic,
or is it just unique to this cultivar?

Edit (question above):  Why are all the leaves of these seed-siblings sooo similar?

I recall you posting something about your seedlings before gorgi. I don't recall the details at the moment.

Will these be a caprifig or smyrna type or what. Are there any odds of them producing a "common" fig type?

Most probably of the Smyrna type figs.

Ah yes, there's that thread. Knew I'd seen it before. Thanks for linking it gorgi.

Yes, my Shirazi (Iranian Smyrna dried fig) seedlings all look like Jon's photos.   They have this unique leaf shape, characteristic of the parent plants that produce the dried figs.     The seedlings are most likely going to be either Smyrna types or Caprifigs.  It is unlikely that any would be a common type fig.     Fun to grow anyway!

From what I have seen with my other seedlings, all of the seeds of one fruit seem to be very similar. Seedlings from another fruit will be different. I saved seeds from several of my own figs, and when I grow them out, I will have a more controlled study.

Jon,
What happened to the plant in post #1?
any updates?
Happy New Year :)

Most of the seedlings have been slow growing. No fruit yet.
