Short stories of figs in Montreal, Canada

I took the time to create a pictures section with pictures and a short story of the figs and people growing them in Montreal.

This should be an interesting project as I find other fig growers in Montreal.

Nice storiesThe_montreal_Fig !

Thanks for taking the time to show us how things are did in other parts of the world.

I like how your website is coming along...nice and smooth. I know that making a website can be hard sometimes. I took web mastering class during school and it was interesting non the least. We used many programs that did the coding work for us and sometime we had to make our own. On the page that shows the varieties that you have will we be able to click the thumbnails to take us to more pictures of the selected fig?

Again great work on your site.

Michal,
nice pictures , i enjoyed reading about how Dominique and family bury there fig tree each year in Montreal reminds me of the times my grandparents did this in Chicago when i was young.
Thanks for sharing and i look forward to more articles.

Thank you Cecil,

Many people talk of these things but I wanted to present some "evidence" that people are growing figs in places like Montreal, Canada.

To me this is mainly a question of time. I do not use any kind of web program I only use notepad and I directly type the HTML code. What I did is that I found a template to start with and from there I completely changed it. I took mine from http://www.free-template-download.com. If you find the original you will see that I radically changed it from what it was supposed to be. If you are interested you can find a tutorial on HTML coding on the Internet and grab a template and then just change it around to make your own web page on figs.

For the
thumbnails this is a good idea but I will only do this next year. I only use my own pictures and some of the fig tree are to small to look good on a picture.

Martin: Thanks!

They even had a tree that was twice the size of the one on the picture but they gave it away.

I will surely write more when I have a few moments in the next few months.

This don't have one thing to do with figs.......But

Before my wife and I retired, we had the pleasure of taking Show Cars into Montreal, Canada. for their car show!

That turned out to be a Circus!

Can you imagine two Texans trying to talk to the majority of people in Montreal?

HAHA..........as they say around here "it was a sight for sore eyes"

im looking forward to your site growing. Wow just notepad huh....thats amazing just to think abut it. Again good luck with your site.

Michal,

Instead of using notepad try Araeane, a free HTML text editor. It's like notepad but does so much more like color coding your code. Makes it easy to spot missing HTML tags, scripts, etc:

Also, I like EZ Thumbs by Fookes for making a bunch of thumbnails at once.
http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/index.php?2.9. Saves me a lot of time! It's free too.

Americanfigboy:

thank you very much

Sue:

You do make a good point that Notepad will not show your typo mistakes. I have to admit that I am very old fashion and I like to do things the ''old'' way.

I am aware of the many options of HTML editors offered. I do admit that sometimes I use Bluefish an HTML editor for Linux. However, most of the time I stick to Notepad under windows or VI in Linux.

Sue: I just want to add that your web site is also very interesting.

Michal,

Since you like to write html, I do too, Araeane is better than notepad. You still have to write the html. It's not a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver. I'd never go back to notepad.

I spend too much time worjing on other's websites, seriously neglecting mine! I need to do a major redesign on mine...maybe when I retire. :-)

Cecil: I forgot to answer your last post. Yes Montreal is a special place since French is the rule of the game.

Dan_la: thanks and yes we can survive up North and grow our own figs!

Good Job, Michal. I saw your site a few month ago and I can see is changing for the better. Keep it up.
