Should I get another fig tree?

My fig tree was planted two years ago out side. So far no leaves. :-( do you think I should start over with a new tree.

Welcome!!! And yes you should get another fig tree!!

No leaves for 2 years! That's some dormancy!    :)

Welcome to the forum.

I think you should get 6 or 10 new trees! The theme of this forum is excess!

Stick around here and you will end up with a few dozen by the end of the season.

There are several members in AR that may be close to you that would gladly provide you with trees or cuttings.
Welcome to the forum!

The answer you will get here is always get another fig even if you have 1000

It's always "just one more"

The dog of a friend tore up my foot long fig tree that I purchased online. I had a few months growing beatifully before he took it out of the pot and created a new fig cutting. The cutting did not survive but the base which is a few inches now does have leaves and started leafing some weeks back. If there are no leaves, I would consider it dead or dying.

I had one that would not do anything, when I scratched it, it was green.  I cut 6" off to get a cutting and it started branching and now is fine.

welcome. from your post i'm not clear if the tree has never leafed in 2 yrs or if it has not awaken this spring. if it has not leaded in 2 yrs, definitely get rid of the tree and replace it with a new tree. if it just hasn't waken up this spring, give it little more time.

one tree is never enough... there is always one more that you will need :)

This is not the place to ask if you were hoping for a "no". :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. You should get another tree ...and another.....and another. Enough said.

Taste the rainbow ....get a tree in all the colors (when the figs are ripe)-black, green, yellow, brown, purple and go from there!!!!

I agree!  :-)

Lol no it has had leaves on it. I had it almost three years still small had a few figs. Each year got more. Last year I moved it cause I had a metal carport put in. And it didn't shed leaves. When it we had frost warning I put a trash bag on it. At that time it looked like it was going to put on leaves. But looks like I'm going to get another ten trees. Lol you guys and gals are truely funny. Thanks for the laugh. :-) funny thing I still run out side every morning thinking my fig tree will grow leaves. Lol

Hey this group sounds like a bunch of figaholics. Lol One fig tree too many a thousand not enough.

If it is an in ground tree, give it a few months to see if it comes back from the roots.
And yes, you should get 'another' fig tree!

Asking on this forum if you should get another fig tree is like asking a crack addict if they want another hit.
Or like asking a congressman if they want another bribe, I mean donation.
Or like asking Putin if he wants to take over another country.
Or... You get the idea :)

I, too, only had one in a pot.  I just acquired two more potted ones - this time Green figs (as they have more of a strawberry taste rather than black figs which have more of a plum taste).  However, due to extensive travel for work, I may have to hold off until I can plant them in ground and let nature do its work.

Smaritza/everyone: Do you find the SmartPots work better than regular traditional pots?  In the hot Carolina Summers, potted plants can get sunburned / dehydrated on a patio of a condo/townhouse/patiohome - I'm still working through trial and error and am open to suggestions while I'm in "apartment style living" until I get extensive land where I can plant as I please (and not deal with HOA rules and regulations).

I grew a few figlings in small 3 gal smartpots that I placed them inside of a larger 15 gallon pot filled 1/3rd with perlite and the rest with my homemade vermicompost and a few inches of bark mulch to keep worms hydrated. Cuttings I took from a neighbors fig tree did well that way. When they need a bigger pot, I will just pull out the smartpot and repot into the same larger pot it is in already.
