Shout Out to Harvey/James & Friends

I just wanted to say thank you for the affordable, and gifted opportunities, to start a great collection of figs.

The plants are way beyond my expectations, most have figs, and were started from cuttings.

Almost every plant was started from late Oct./15 - Jan/16.

I am amazed and hope for your continued success.

Harvey, James and friends,

                                                 Thank you,

                                                                        Mike

Here are my plants, behind my little steeple. When my wife realizes they have to come inside,

  I'll be with homeless people.

 Thanks everyone, Mike

Wow, Mike! Those trees look great. Good luck this season!

Bill,

Your Terramo is in there and looks just as good,

Thanks you.

Now that's how you start a collection!  You'll be swimming in figs before long.  Good luck with the wife this winter.  My wife went through the acceptance phase about 3 years ago.  ;)

Mike when my wife starts in on my collection, I remind her of the amount of shoes she has.

Well done, Mike!  They look amazing!

Wow, those are all looking great!  You're going to be swimming in figs soon :)

Dave    Shoes are off limits because they are a necessity of life and they make you feel so goooood.  I like to open the door and see all their little happy faces.    Admitted that I don't have as many as I used too  100+  because I dressed up and wore heels every day.

Mike those ace hardware buckets must be the bomb for growing.   They have magic ingredients in them?

Looks great, Mike!!! I fail to post pictures of what I have and thank all of the generous people here...mostly due to time restrictions. You did well in thanking those members who have been so generous to you!

Blessings to you & them!
Meg

Beautiful as they are you have a great secret recipe to feed them for sure. Have seen some of mine doing well and some treated the same way that fail all the way. Yours are all amazing.
Congrats and thank's for sharing your success.

Great Job Mike!! Beautiful Trees! You got some good ones. My Wife loves my Figs, she even helps me put them up for the Winter. I know it's not cause she loves to eat them every chance she gets! Good Luck bud for the rest of the year!

Mike, that is a job well done. Your thumb is definitely green. :)

Mike, they all look so healthy!  What's your secret?

Mike, perhaps we should start a homeless fig tree growers club.

How do you cut the grass??

Thanks,

No secrets, plenty of mistakes along the way.

Grass?! Where?

I have committed to 1 cutting per 1 gallon container instead of starting in a cup. Pro Mix BX.

When bigger leaves start to develop, I give them some pelleted lime and 14-14-14 Ozmocoat.

Miracle grow liquid every 2-4 weeks.

When growth kicks in I moved the to 5 gallon containers from June through mid-July. I think less transplants and more root room helps.

5 gallon pails have 3 , 3/8" holes on the side and two on the bottom.

All Pro-Mix BX in the 5 gallon pails

Top dress with more Ozmocoat and lime, and cover with 1" Pro-Mix and water in.

I have been pinching  bud ends and watering when they dry up.

They have had Miracle grow once since being in 5 gallon pails.

I have noticed I have to check, even when it rains, to see if the plants got enough water.

I have put four of these in the ground several weeks ago and there were very well rooted to the bottoms of the pails.

Thanks again everyone,

                                          Mike.

Wow Mike
You have hit it hard, and hit it out of the ball park. The trees look stupendous. You have come a very long way in a very short time.
Im so happy to be part of it!

Great job Mike, your plants look great.  It's great to see how well your efforts have paid off.

Great job! Looks like your collection is coming along.

Thanks for the encouragement and help everyone.

Today the wife asked where all the plants are going in the winter.

I said  ..................???!

Good question, lol.

One thing at a time.

After all this work I'll probably find out I'm allergic to figs.

     Mike

Good job Mike, keep up the good work

very nice, "they grow up so fast"  ;)

No worries. Just avoid the latex and not fully ripened figs. : )
But seriously, after all the effort, I'm sure you will be rewarded with some awesome treats.

Help!  Jane! Stop this crazy thing!!!

 Help, Jane!!!

Last year I had a couple plants that were a foot tall.

At the end of the year, they were a foot tall.

How would I expect this?

This forum should come with a warning label!.

Thanks again everyone. I just got my first ever ripe fig today, a D'all Osco, awesome, will post.
