Shout Out to Harvey/James & Friends

D'all Osso, damn autocorrect.

That looks awesome!  What a perfect backyard :)

That's awesome, Mike!

About how many 5gal pails do you think you can fill with a bale of the Pro Mix ? Very nice job growing!

Dang you plants look good.  First fig too.   Today is a special day!

Wow! You've got a fig army there! It's an awesome assortment and they look great.

Esteban,

Unfortunately I know the answer is 8, lol.

Make that, only 8

Mike very impressive collection. Nice job. Which varieties did you plant in ground? In Connecticut?

Hi Barry,

I an trying Longue d' Aout, Desert King, LSU Purple, White Marseilles, Green Ishida, Tarantella, Sal's El, and 5 or 6 unknowns front Ct and RI'

The real question is what I did not kill, come the Spring.

These are all first year too. Pray for them, lol.

I will try to get a couple picks of them tomorrow.

Take care, Mike

What a beautiful fig forest !

Beautiful figs, Mike! Plants all look healthy and vigorous..... You have a green thumb... Question - How long do your buckets last in the UV sunlight before they start to get brittle and break apart? I've considered them as an alternative to the commercial nursery containers of 5-7 gallons which invariably hold 3.5- 5 gallons (I think) but I have had my white 5 gallons go brittle in 2 seasons (not a great experience) and I have the commercial nursery containers last far longer.... Do you think the white color benefits the figs by keeping the root ball cooler in summer as compared to the black?

Thanks,
T

Very nice, Mike.

They are beautiful!

Mike they look amazing. Whatever you are doing is obviously working. Keep up the good work.

Hi T,

First year, so I hope forever. Cringe to think about it.

I did get white to keep the roots cooler.

I am new so it was just a guess.

Mike

Hi,
Your forest looks beautiful!
Those buckets will last as long as you don't move them around too often.

Those plants sure do look nice, they put on some good growth.

They look nice but, before long you'll might have to pot them up.I thought I had big collection for at least the small area I have but, you really went big.Good luck.

Nice collection!

Wow, that is really a nice collection!  Looks like you have room for them, too.  Very nice set up.

Way to go Mike!!! Good luck with your wife, mine is somewhat accepting but only as long as I don't talk too much about figs hehehe

Actually, she never accepted it.

It started with something like (months before these pictures) I don't want to (he he) look out my window and see GD fig trees everywhere!

She had her first fig and then said "what are you planning  to do with them in the winter?"

Damn women thinking ahead.

Still working on that one, Mike.

Yeah I was told the house cannot become a jungle...so we moved to a place with a bigger basement ;)

Wow!, you even moved?

I keep waiting to wake to a pillow pushed over my head.

Well technically we moved to be closer to my new job and better opportunities for her, but realistically I made sure the house we rented was great for trees ;) I wasn't thinning my collection, moving to a shoebox and quitting collecting!
