My lights turn on when I get up in the am and go off when I retire at night. This is usually 6-7 in the am and midnight.

Here is my set up right now, orchids on top and figs on the bottom. I use T8 fluorescent bulbs for 13 hours and the top rack is a humidity tray for the orchids. Everything is going well after I corrected the humidity issue :). I am currently weaning one bin off of high humidity to transition them. I find that too much heat from a heat mat can actually make my humidity issue worse. I air out each bin for an hour in the morning and evening.

Wow KK look at all those happy green leaves. This thread has been so inspiring. To the point of giving me the push to get my cuttings, plants, etc organized onto shelving. Great job everyone. A fig for every plot!

My lights and heat pad are on about 16 hours per day. I do not use any humidity bin at all. My cuttings are shoved as far down into the 9" pot as possible. Sometimes as much as 90% of the cutting is below soil level. I just doubled my setup to a whopping 2 shelves. The problem is I only have 3 grow lights and I need 6. So I have the taller ones with 2 grow lights and a spiral type light in the middle. On the "starter" shelf the two outer lights are the spiral type (40 watt) with the grow light in the middle. Hopefully that is enough light.

Finally got room number 2 organized enough for a pic.  I have 11 cuttings that I just put into cups 1 from cloner and 10 from the shoeboxes with damp moss.

Took a look in the cloner after work today and have a couple more starting to show roots.  So far though it seems like the damp moss is out performing my cloners. We will see.

Adelmanto, is a "grow light" different than a T5 light? I should have read the post from Brooklynmatty on the subject

Smyfigs. Attached are pics of T5 lights and the spiral lights that I have. As far as light output goes, I'm not sure if there is a difference. I had the light fixtures so I went with the bulbs that would fit. My bulbs were about $10 each. This is my first year with grow lights. I will never try to grow anything indoors without them again. They are great!!!

I agree, Aaron, growing indoors with lights is a much better way to go. I think i will try to rig up an attached work light with a bulb like your examples. It will certainly help. Thanks!

If you can't find a "grow bulb" like Aaron has shown just get a CFL Daylight bulb. You can get a 2 pack for $10.00 at lowes or Home Depot and they work great. You are looking for a bulb with the color temperature of either 5000 or 6500 K.
I have purchased "grow bulbs" in the past and I don't see any difference in performance between a daylight bulb and the more expensive grow bulbs

Yes Andy there are 50 varieties of chinense and pubes species that I usually start beginning of January because they require such a long season to fruit. I am going to sow another 30 to 40 varieties in the next few days of annuums, baccatum an frutescens. St. Patty's day i will start tomatoes.

It is very exciting to see the figs rooting and seedlings breaking the top of the soil.
