Sicilian Fig Varieties & Cuttings

Hi,
I am looking for fig varieties that are native to Sicily, both the name and a possible source of cuttings. I would gladly buy or trade cuttings from/with someone. My family is from Sicily, and it would be great a have some "native" figs in my backyard.
Thanks for any information!

John

Look for the following which are all about the same:

Sal's Corleone
Palermo Red
Sicilian Red
Panevino Dark
Aldo
Weeping Black

All seem to have the same origin as Sicily

Thanks Dominick!

Another common one is Hardy Chicago which can be purchased commercially e.g. from Edible Landscaping.

Thanks.

Might have one for you. I just got this so maybe by next yr.

John, I think any Mt Etna fig will do for you .

That would be about 20 varieties or so, like those:
Takoma Violet, Dark Portuguese, Marseilles Black VS, Sal's EL/GS, Salem Dark, Black Bethlehem, Gino’s Black, Unknown #11, Jersey Fig, Martini, Don Fortissi Black, Hardy Chicago, Keddie, Hardy Pittsburgh, Hardy Hartford, GM #11 (Sicilian Dark), Abba, Dominick's fig, NJ Red, San Donato (Calabria), Macool, Owensboro and probably some others.

These figs are from Enna, Sicily. My friend cut it sending to me.

Due to very hot climate in summer, 34-38 C. can stimulate fruit's ripening easily.

Moreover. it make fig deliciously.

Forum member Giuseppe gifted me a cutting that I rooted of a dark fig called Carrapipe Nera. Has not yet fruited for me. Also from Enna, my grandmother's province.
